The northern sugar crush has been delayed but analysts are keeping a close eye on the sugar price as it continues to slide.
Recent wet weather has meant ground conditions are just too wet for harvesting.
But that won't affect a growing oversupply of sugar which has seen the sugar price drop again and remain below 20 US cents a pound.
Green Pool Commodities analyst Tom McNeill says the impact of reduced import demand on price will ultimately, be negated by higher production costs in Brazil and around the world.
Overnight, the July contract dipped again to 19.06 US cents a pound.
