Farmers are fearing a dive in their sugar crop quality after big rains in Queensland.

Last week, up to 100 millimetres fell around southern growing areas and in the north, causing some harvest stoppages.

Analyst Tom McNeill says the rain may hurt farmers.

"It certainly won't be helping the early season start for most mill areas," he said.

"Farmers are really struggling to either get cane in the bins or, alternatively, some mills in the south are delaying their harvest altogether for a little while yet."
