Sugar prices bearish consolidation. In a year and lost 40 percent
Throughout this week, industrial sugar, cane growers unions and warned of a difficult 2012-13 harvest, because it is drawn as a season of great supply but prices down.
 
Compared with October 2011, the domestic price of sugar has fallen standard 40%, from 732 pesos to 436 pesos per bag of 50 kg.
 
According to the first official estimate of production of sugarcane and sugar, sweetener production in Mexico would increase to 12.27% in the next cycle 2012/13 compared to the previous harvest, due to better weather that has favored the growth and quality of cane.
 
At the close of sugar prices in Mexico end up consolidating a downtrend amid the commencement of work at several mills in the country.
 
In front of a long weekend because of the Day of the Dead festivities, we perceived a slow business and according to our survey in different markets, the wholesale price of standard sugar levels are located at 390-400 pesos per bag in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey.
 
While waiting for the first data of the sugar production in the country, we believe that the downtrend could continue for the next few days.
