Mr McNeill believes growers may be able to offset the price drop by hedging against 2015 and 2016 future options.
However, for those in the 'prompt' market it's a 'low paying proposition'.
"If the Aussie [dollar] was down at 85 to 90 [US cents] I think things would look a lot more rosy."
"The high Aussie dollar has been a significant frustration for the rural sector."
Mr McNeill says most agricultural commodities have suffered a price slump over the past few months, with wheat and corn off about 30 per cent on the highs of early 2014.
